Welcome to TFG! In an effort to make the purpose and usage of the site understandable to all its members, here is written a basic guidebook to how a forum works, especially in regard to TFG.
What is TFG?
TatsForGirls is an idea thought up by a girl, for girls all around the world. Based upon the idea that all girls should have access to cute, feminine, and quality-looking tattoo designs to choose from. That way, you don't have to google image search all the time, hoping that something good will show up. With the help from the creator's efforts to centralize girly and attractive tattoos to one place, combined with the members' collective submitting of tattoo designs, we hope it will be simple for you to find that perfect image.
How do I participate in the forum?
You can either look up a cool design, or help others find theirs by submitting images you've found/created. *Remember: copywright laws can and will be laid over some images, so be sure to only claim ownership of designs that you own! It is allowed to post someone else's picture, as long as you give a proper reference to where it came from. This will eliminate any chance of you being in trouble for stealing another's artwork.* By posting in the forum, you can help others find tattoo designs or answer questions; find some artwork that will help you in your own tattoo design search; learn more about tattooing in general; and have fun! The possibilities are endless at TFG.
Another really cool thing about TFG is that, by posting in the forum, you will acquire TatBucks. This is the forum's form of currency; the more you post, the more you earn! (Note: some boards will not increase your balance for posting) You can use these TatBucks for special design requests on the site; some people will actually offer their design services if you pay them a given amount. Although the TatBucks are not real currency, with the agreement of another member, you can purchase a custom tattoo design, just for you! (If you would like a custom design made, look at the Designers board to check out the artists available. Be sure to read each artist's terms and conditions before agreeing to anything.)
How does the forum work?
Depending on what you want to do, you will go to the main page and click on one of the boards. Want to ask a question about tattoos? Click on the Q&A board in the 'General' category. Have a tattoo design you'd like to share? Click on the Tattoo Collection board, and then click on the sub-board it fits into. Want to talk about how good your mom's brownies were last night? Click on the General board. (Yep, we've even got a place for that.)
Once you've gotten into the correct board, you'll notice you can create threads. Threads are individual conversations. To start one of your own, click "New Thread" at the upper right. If what you want to post will have something to do with a conversation someone else already began, simply click on a thread to add your own post to the conversation. A reply box will be at the bottom of the page of the thread; or, there is a "reply" button at the upper right that can take you to the complete 'post message' screen. Clicking this will allow you to choose from a lot more options and editing codes to choose from. Now, you insert whatever you want to post. Use your creative juices, or type some code to insert a picture. Click post when you're done and - voĆla! You've made a post!
What are codes?
Codes are used to edit plain words. Using words, you can insert a video, a picture, a smiley, or cool effects on words. For example; [glow=pink,2,300]This is glowing text[/glow] and [shadow=green,left,300]This is shadowed text[/shadow]Pretty neat, huh? It's simple to learn. For beginners, all you have to do when you create a post is (when you are on the complete 'post message' screen, which you can access by the 'reply' button in the upper right corner in a thread conversation) click one of the buttons above the message box. Then, you'll get a code like this (the stars, or asterisks, are in there so you can actually see the code);
[*img*][/*img*]
It will have brackets. These brackets separate the starting code from the ending code. For example, when you want words to be bold, you want to choose where the boldness starts and ends, right? It's easy. You just click the Bold button above the message box, and then type the text you want to be bold inbetween the first bracketed text and the second bracketed text. So if I want a sentence to look like this;
I really love cake.
Then you will type (minus the asterisks, of course);
I [*b*]really love[/*b*] cake.
Simple, right? Now as you get more experienced with codes, you'll get to memorize the simpler codes that bolden or italicize your text, and you'll start experimenting with [glow=red,2,300]glowing text[/glow] and other neat things. And the more you learn, the more awesome and interesting the codes will be.
Now what?
Now, you get to post. See what others are posting, or make a conversation of your own. Check out others' designs, or submit a few. Be sure to check out the rules for TFG; but most importantly, have fun! We hope this site is as helpful to you as it was to the creators. Send a question to the staff if you need help with anything, or post a question in the Q&A board. Good luck!
